Hi,

I am trying to import about 10 windows from one Scada to another. I was wondering what is the best way to set up the tags. If I have say 50 tags and I import the windows, then convert local, I have to have all the correct parameters to set-up the tag correctly. Is there a way that I can import the tag parameters to the DB so that when I convert local the tags are aready set-up?
What I mean is do I copy the tags from one DB to the other manually via Excel, or is there an easier way?

Thanks, Conor

Conor,

You can use the DBDump and DBLoad function. Select the old InTouch application within Application Manager and go File->DBDump->Save as a .csv file. Select the new InTouch application within Application Manager, go to File->DBLoad and upload the .csv file. This should provide you with all the tagname information required.

Hi Linda,

I know about the DB Dump/Load, but if I need to add the new tags to the exsisting DB do I need to add them to the csv first, and then DBLoad. What I mean is there an easier way to add the tags (50 tags approx) rather than doing them manually via the csv?

Hi again,

So I have an application running, and all the tags are in the DB (DB1). If I want to merge another DB (DB2) into DB1can I just use the Update mode? Will this add all of the new tags from DB2 and leave the orignal tags as they were in DB1

Yes, you can use the :MODE=UPDATE. If a duplicate tag is encountered, the DBLoad utility overwrites the existing tag definition in the Tagname Dictionary only with data explicitly specified from the import file. All other data associated with the tag remains unchanged in the Tagname Dictionary.
Please take a backup of your InTouch application before making any changes.
